RON BURKHARDT

 ART MONOGRAPH

(Creative Director, Book Design)

Ron Burkhardt's practice spans three distinct bodies of work: Letterscapes (typographic abstractions), Earth Art (geological and organic forms), and Notism — a movement he originated in the late 1990s characterized by obsessive, scribbled, intersecting lines that transform handwritten notes into abstract visual compositions commenting on memory and information overload.

I designed of a comprehensive monograph surveying his work across these movements. The editorial approach prioritized restraint — allowing the art to occupy space without competition, using typography and pacing as structural support rather than decorative assertion.

The result is a publication that functions as both archival documentation and considered object, demonstrating that design's role is sometimes to establish clarity and then step back.
